Sen. Barack Obama has added a Lynchburg appearance with Sen. Jim Webb to his pass through Virginia this Wednesday.

Webb and Obama will hold a town hall meeting with voters, which will focus on improving the economy and Obama’s plans for a tax cut for middle-class families and $4,000 in college tuition tax credits, according to the campaign. The event is free and open to the public.

Earlier Wednesday, Obama and former Gov. Mark R. Warner will visit Martinsville. There, they will meet with workers and families who have been affected by what the Obama campaign calls the “failed trade policies of the Bush administration, policies [Arizona Sen.] John McCain promises to continue.“

Of the 134 counties and cities in the state, Martinsville has the highest unemployment rate, measured in June at 11.4 percent.

Obama is expected to make additional stops in Virginia this week, but the campaign has not confirmed other visits.

I have read an article titled Appalachia’s not on fire for Obama… in which there are people who claim that Senator Obama is a Christian.  I personally to not believe that anyone who uphold the party platform of a woman being able to kill her unborn baby is a Christian. Killing or aborting a fetus, baby, is completely wrong and one has to denounce that barbaric act of abortion fully before they would ever think of getting my vote and I hope all Christians no matter what faith.  We should be a people of Godly principle, not of Sodom and Gomorrah, nor of baby killings in the ungodly High Places of Baal

The Junior Senator Barack Hussein Obama, while being a well educated individual and a non-white politician with the incredibly bad judgment and inexperience for either VP or Presidential candidate, continues to come across with great rhetoric and hype. Obama has NO executive experience and has voted 100% of the time along party lines. No Change there. At least McCain has CHANGED his vote more than 10% of the time. Plus Sarah Palin, only running for VP, is a documented reformer with a proven 14 year political track record both executive and legislative experience, which is way more than the Junior Senator. Obama, unfortunately, would require 4 years of an on the job training program, which the American people can not afford.

It truly was historic that Mr. Obama would visit Martinsville on the campaign trail. The spotlight on the community for the world to to hear about has to be a plus for the community .
Also to be intimate and upclose as well as hear the message in person from the candidate was estatic and inspiring.
His energy, vision, smarts and vision for country is just what the doctor order.
Yes! Our country CAN, our communities CAN and citizens CAN.

Thanks for the information. Thank you. I’ll forward it to family still living within driving distance.

I do wish you would expand the discussion of McCain’s plan to tax the health benefits of working folks.
