Tyler Whitley reports:
Joe Abbey, campaign manager for state Sen. R. Creigh Deeds, said in a conference call with reporters that momentum still seemed to be going Deeds’ way. He estimated the statewide turnout at 5 to 6 percent. By mid-afternoon about 100 more people had voted in Charlottesville than cast ballots in the 2006 Democratic primary, he said.
In the 2006 Democratic primary, Jim Webb won the party’s U.S. Senate nomination. He went on to defeat Republican George Allen.

I was only the 52nd voter as of 4PM…and there are over 2000 registered voters in my precinct. A 2.5% voter turnout at one precinct is SAD (especially because I’m a first time voter…if I can vote in a primary? Everyone can and should).
