There are more Virginia Campaign for Change offices in Virginia than Ukrops.
The Democratic campaign announced today it’s opening its 42nd office on Saturday in Warrenton.
From the location at 92 Main St., residents can phone bank, pick up tools to campaign in the area or learn more about Sen. Barack Obama, Mark Warner and other Democrats running for office in the state.
Barack Obama’s desire to secure the bluegrass vote struck the right note today when legend Ralph Stanley threw his support behind the Illinois senator. Obama talked about the economy in Lebanon today.
The 81-year-old from Coeburn cited Obama’s commitment to fight for working families in his endorsement, according to the campaign.
“After the last eight years, Virginia families need someone on their side, someone looking out for their interests, and I know Barack Obama will be that leader,” Stanley said per a news release from the Obama campaign. “He’ll make it easier for parents to send their kids to college and make sure they have more money left in their pockets at the end of the month.”
In 2008, Stanley was designated the Outstanding Virginian by the Virginia General Assembly. He’s a Dickensen County native who has been playing bluegrass for more than 50 years.
Jeff E. Schapiro reports:
Jody Wagner, the former state finance secretary who quit the Kaine administration to run for lieutenant governor, is rolling out endorsements for the 2009 Democratic nomination.
Wagner, opposed by Russell County businessman John Bowerbank, is backed by nine senators and 22 delegates.
Her Senate supporters include majority leader Dick Saslaw of Fairfax, caucus chair Mary Margaret Whipple of Arlington and Chuck Colgan, the finance committee chairman from Prince William.
Among Wagner’s allies in the House are four from the Richmond-Petersburg area: Frank Hall of Richmond, Joe Morrissey of Henrico, Rosalyn Dance of Petersburg and Roz Tyler of Sussex.
Jeff E. Schapiro reports:
The Obama-Biden campaign is opening another four offices in Virginia, bringing the total to 41.
Offices are planned for Dumfries in Northern Virginia, Wytheville in Southwest Virginia, Bridgewater in the Shenandoah Valley and Charlottesville in Central Virginia.
